Be a Part of the Campus-Community-World Connection
There is more to UC Riverside than just books and class. We invite you to become a part of our community and our family.
Explore UCR arts, lectures, recreation and Highlander athletics.
Events Calendar
UCR strives to remain an active member in both the Riverside and global communities. Involved in everything from acting to agriculture, UCR hosts a variety of events and performers each week, all made available to the public via the online Events Calendar.
ARTSblock and UCR Performing Arts
ARTSblock is the result of a collaborative effort between UCR and the city of Riverside to bring new and ambitious art exhibits and events to Southern California. Consisting of the Sweeney Art Gallery, the UCR/California Museum of Photography and the soon to be established Culver Center of the Arts (coming 2009), as well as several downtown Riverside galleries, ARTSblock opens the cultural community of downtown Riverside to the general public, while granting artists a unique and open new venue.
Athletics & Recreation
The proud history of Highlander athletics dates back to the inception of the school in the mid-1950's. Today, UC Riverside's Intercollegiate Athletics program features 17 sports competing at the NCAA Division I level in the Big West Conference.
The UCR Student Recreation Center is the hub of recreational, intramural and club sports on campus. Whether it is working out in our extensive gymnasium, playing pick-up basketball, taking a class or going on an adventure with our Outdoor Excursions program, the 80,000 square foot facility is the place for fun and fitness at UCR.
The facilities are free to all UCR students with current ID. Others may purchase quarterly memberships or day passes for admission
Lifelong Learning (Select UNEX Classes)
The Bernard Osher Foundation was established in 1977 to benefit a wide range of educational and cultural activities. The Foundation has provided funding to create Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes at 93 universities in 39 states in the United States.
UC Riverside's OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) provides a stimulating learning experience at a modest cost that enriches the intellectual, social, and cultural lives of people over the age of 50. Our courses are only open to OLLI members, so learning takes place in a peer environment. There are no tests or grades and no entrance exams or minimum educational background restrictions - the only requirement is a love of learning.
Citizens University Committee
The Citizens University Committee (CUC) is responsible for all relations between UCR and the surrounding community. Meetings are held between CUC and Riverside community members to address issues ranging from students social activities to campus expansion.
Affiliates of UCR
The Affiliates of UCR were formed to foster friendship and understanding between the City of Riverside and the University of California, Riverside. We welcome members from both the community and the campus and invite you to join the Affiliates of UCR to enrich your life with fellowship, new friends, new knowledge and the personal satisfaction of contributing to the educational careers of UCR students.
